Privacy Policy
The Ditsy Edit LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates the brand and platform known as The Ditsy. This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information. We've tried to write it plainly — no riddles, no fine print games.
01Information we collect
Visitors to our website and social platforms
We may collect device information, browser type, IP address, pages visited, and similar analytics data through cookies and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or similar). We may collect your email address if you sign up for our newsletter.
Maker submissions
When you submit content to be featured as a maker on The Ditsy, we collect: your name, business name, email address, social media handles, website/shop URLs, written responses, and photographs (which may include images of you, your work, your workspace, and any individuals you have authorized to be included).
Contact and communications
If you email us or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you choose to share.
02How we collect maker submissions
Submissions are collected through a form hosted on our website (built and hosted on Netlify). Submitted data may be processed through automation tools (such as Zapier or similar) to route it to our cloud storage (currently Google Drive and/or equivalent providers) and our internal tracking database (currently Airtable and/or equivalent providers). Each of these service providers processes your information on our behalf and is subject to its own privacy policy.
03How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve The Ditsy's website, Makers Index, and social platforms;
- Publish maker features and operate the Makers Index;
- Communicate with you about your submission, feature, or inquiry;
- Send newsletters and updates (you can unsubscribe at any time);
- Promote The Ditsy and featured makers across our platforms;
- Comply with legal obligations.
04Storage and retention
Maker source files
Original responses and original photos are retained in our secure cloud storage for twelve (12) months from the date of submission, then deleted. Records of consent to our Maker Feature Submission Agreement may be retained longer for legal and recordkeeping purposes.
Published content
Content that has been published on our website, Makers Index, social media, email newsletters, or other platforms is not affected by source-file deletion and may remain live indefinitely, subject to our Maker Feature Submission Agreement.
Email and newsletter data
Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
Analytics data
Retained according to the settings of the tools we use (typically 14–26 months).
05Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:
- Service providers (such as Netlify, Zapier, Google Drive, Airtable, our email platform, and analytics tools) strictly to operate The Ditsy;
- Affiliate and advertising partners, who may receive aggregated or anonymized data;
- Legal authorities, where required by law.
06Affiliate links, advertising, and monetization
Our website, Makers Index, and social platforms may contain affiliate links, referral codes, sponsored content, or advertising. The Ditsy Edit LLC may earn revenue from these. Tracking cookies or pixels from third parties (such as affiliate networks, ad platforms, or Meta) may collect data when you interact with these elements. See those third parties' privacy policies for details. Where required, we disclose material relationships in accordance with FTC guidelines.
07Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information;
- Opt out of marketing emails;
- Opt out of certain data uses.
To exercise these rights, email hello@theditsy.com. Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with consumer privacy laws may have additional rights. Residents of the EU/UK have rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
08Maker removal requests
Makers may request early removal of features or Makers Index listings by contacting hello@theditsy.com. Removal is subject to the terms of our Maker Feature Submission Agreement, including limitations on recall of already-distributed content.
09Children's privacy
The Ditsy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Photos of children submitted by makers are governed by our Maker Feature Submission Agreement, which requires parental consent.
10Security
We use reasonable security measures, including secure cloud storage and two-factor authentication on key accounts. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
